The people playing on my music are myself on guitar and Dana Bennett on fiddle. Dana taught me to play guitar in the late 1950's at Abilene Christian College where we lived across the hall from one another. I didn't even know there were chord changes in music. Eventually we even roomed together. Dana grew up in Woodberry, Texas near Hillsboro which is close to Waco. He had several cotton farms and cattle. I grew up in Graham, Texas where I lived in the "city". Dana was my best man in my wedding in 1967. Dana has a small band named Woodbury Western Band that plays for nursing homes, country get togethers, etc. If it has strings on it Dana can play the instrument. A great ear. Knows all the songs by heart. He can play rhythm or lead. Great voice too. I just trudge along having fun. I wish I had had my Collins D2h but it was back in Florida. One of these days.

Dana's information:
I have lived in lived in Hill county (Hillsboro, Texas) all my life. When I was young I listened to Grand Ole Opry and acted like fiddling probably because Dad fiddled. I started taking lessons on junior size and ordered full size from local music store which I used in high school and college. I visited fiddle maker in Fort Worth in 1960 who had the fiddle (Antonius Stradivarius Cremonen-Taciebat Anno 17) used on the recording. Dad bought the B-25 Gibson used from local music store. I helped start Woodbury Opry in 1960. Still going.

The music was recorded in Dana's home in Hillsboro the later part of June, 2000. Recorded on a "boom box" without any other instrumentation. The guitar is a small body Gibson B25 built in the 40s or 50s that Dana got around 1950.

Dana and I remain in contact and I look forward to more music when my wife and I move back to Texas, hopefully next year. Our friendship is one that I treasure highly. It is not often that you stay close to college friends but we have. I am thankful to God for that.

We both are very honored to be included in Plec VI. I am trying to determine how many copies I want to give away for presents!
