St. Anne's Reel is an old flatpicking chestnut which is no stranger to Plectrology. This particular version strays a bit from the norm, so thanks for indulging me. The inspiration came from a number of sources including the incomparable David Grier, a CD by Dirk Powell and Tony Furtado, and my flatpicking partner, Mark Steib.

Instrument:
Santa Cruz D

Recording Equipment/Setup:
AKG C3000 microphones
Mackie 1202 mixer
Roland VS-840

Playing Techniques and Secrets:
These days, I use the rounded edge of a white Clayton 1.00mm pick and D'Addario EJ17 strings. The guitar, which is a Mahogany with Adirondack spruce top, was partially capoed at the 2nd fret providing a "dropped E" sound that still allowed standard chord fingering. Two AKG C3000 microphones were positioned about 12" above the bridge, and were pointed at different angles toward the bridge.

Personal Notes: This is my third year on Plectrology, and I am again grateful for the opportunity to share music with the Flatpick-L community. And special thanks and love to my wonderful wife and son.
