I
used a fairly simple process to record my Plec VI tunes. I recorded
3 or 4 takes of each tune on my Sony MD unit using my Audio Technica
AT822 stereo mic.
I transferred the data from my Sony MD recorder to the PC then opened up the wave file in CoolEdit Pro. I normalized the volume to 95%, then I added a little reverb. I also edited the silence between the tunes, etc.... It was a relatively simple process and I was pleased with the result. I'm in the process of putting together a computer based recording system that should be a lot of fun once I'm able to get all of the parts of the puzzle working correctly.
"Do we Have to Say Goodbye" and "Love and Beauty" were written for and are dedicated to my kids, d'Hannah and Elijah. "King of the Pipers" is a traditional Irish fiddle tune I picked up from an old Altan CD. I knew that I wanted to start with DWHTSG and end with KOTP, but needed a piece to connect the first and last tunes. LaB fit the bill. I call it my "bagpipe tune". I usually play it in dropped D. I used my old (that I no longer own) 1998 Collings Mahogany/Red Spruce CJ on this recording. My CJ was strung with D'Addario medium EXP strings and I used a Clayton Gold .94 pick. I
hope you enjoy the tunes! |
