The Cincinnati Rag is a tuned played at bluegrass jams
and fiddlers conventions in northwest NC and southwest Virginia. I
grew up hearing the good bluegrass fiddle players play it.
Old Time Yellow Rose is an old-time fiddle tune based
on the song "The Yellow Rose of Texas" or maybe it was the other way
around. My wife Penny taught me how to play the right notes on this
one.
The Virginia Waltz is a song from one of the first LP's
I ever bought by Jim &
Jesse
and The Virginia Boys. I've never heard it played very much and it
has always stuck in the back of my mind as being a beautiful melody.
Instruments used:
The rhythm is played by Penny Kilby on her 1944 Martin D-28 The lead
notes are played by Steve Kilby on his 1936 Martin D-28
