A Winter's Night (copyright 1999)
The result of a little homesickness after being in California for
4 years. Still feel those pangs occasionally. 2 guitars: me (rhythm)
on an 1990 Alvarez-Yairi DY80 "Canyon Creek" 12-String, and Ron Atcheson
(lead & fills) on a 1941 Martin D-18. Recorded live to 4 track computer
software

My take on the murder ballad sub-genre (i.e., Frankie and Johnny,
Long Black Veil, etc.). For some reason, this song evokes strong reactions
in some people. 2 guitars: me (rhythm) on a 2000 Mauel 000-12, Ron
Atcheson (lead & fills) on his 1941 Martin D-18. Recorded live to
4 track computer software.
I've been playing since 1985, but only recently have
I begun to feel happy with my skill level. I played in a few rock
bands and started a couple too, but never really got a sound or situation
I was happy with. I hate recording, but I love the results; and I'm
not real finicky or perfectionist about the final cut.
Ron Atcheson plays in a Santa Rosa, California area
duo, teaches guitar, and somehow manages to make a living playing
music. I am grateful that he felt my songs were worthy of his time
and energy.
