He currently plays a 1995 Martin D35. On the instrumental track from Monogram's CD, he is playing a 1945 Martin D18. Jakub's second piece is a live Monogram performance of a song by Liz Meyer called "Gone," from the European World of Bluegrass (EWOB) 2000 festival. He also sings the lead vocal on this song, as well as on the Carl Perkins tune "Restless," which was recorded live at EWOB 1999. Jakub's primary guitar He's been playing guitar since the age of 13, but wasn't exposed to bluegrass until he was 17. He first heard flatpick guitar when he was in high school - "Cold on the Shoulder" by Tony Rice. Jakub plays in 2 bluegrass bands in Prague: Monogram, and Bluegrass
and Beyond. In addition to these groups, he not only plays with the
award-winning Austrian bluegrass group Nugget, but also with a traditional
jazz group called The Rhythm Strings. |
